Android Developer Challenge: The nominees are ...

Android Developer Challenger After a publication originally scheduled for May 5 and postponed for a few days, the list of winners of the Android Developer Challenge has finally been published.

For those who have not followed the news of the open source OS for mobile , the is an initiative of the giant to involve the community of open source developers in the development of an operating system innovative for Smartphones, PDAs and mobile devices. With a reward of $ 10 million to the key and a great media exposure, the contest attracted more than 1700 projects teams from over 70 different countries.

Thus, since mid-April deadline for project reports, the 100 contest judges were working to choose the top 50 among 1,788 applications in total. With incredibly diverse topics, selected applications have therefore received a prize of $ 25,000 and a berth in the second phase of the competition. Of these 50 winners, four teams have chosen to remain anonymous.

Phase 2 of the competition is sleep and already launched and the end of the contest will be located at probably around the end of June if deadlines are met. Then on July 20, is finally going to experience the big winners with a share of the reward between the top 20 teams: the first 10 teams will receive $ 275,000 each and 10 others will receive $ 100,000.

It's only $ 5 million in total??! Indeed, chose to split the reward between two challenges. Given that is in its infancy, the contest was separated into two. So we have a first phase (that mentioned in this article) to develop the first applications of the OS and a second to be held in the second half of 2008, when the first phones running on will be available to the general public.
